SOUTHERN NATIONAL

It’s not just the food that’s going to be impressive.

The 150 seat restaurant is tucked into the main floor of the restored historic Wilkins-Higgins building across from the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Chef Duane Nutter and restauranteur Reggie Washington wanted to bring a world-class experience, similar to those in New Orleans, to Mobile, AL. The duo’s focus is to take a modern approach to classic Southern seafood dishes — and to source locally.

The design complements the restaurant’s focus and vision. Re-finishing Alabama pine and original brick as the main materials gives the reaturant a fresh and moden feel, while the glossy zinc and walnut bar is reminiscent of downtownn New Orldeans. The open kitchen acts as a source of entertainment during dinnertime, while the busy streets of Dauphin set the mood in the evening. The space was decorated with antiques that had been hand selected by Washington's mother, Addie.
